With the most important part of the WorldSBK grid assembled at Jerez, it seemed like a good time to go over the 2017 WorldSBK season. No one knows the World Superbike paddock quite like Steve English, so David Emmett submits him to a grilling over the events of the past year, and how he sees the future, while David tries not to make too many stupid remarks.

Obviously, the main topic of discussion was Jonathan Rea, and how he dominated. But there was plenty more to talk about too. We discussed Chaz Davies and Ducati, and how hard Davies had to work to keep up. We mull Marco Melandri's return to WorldSBK, and whether he has lived up to expectations.

We look at the other manufacturers and riders too. We discuss how the Pata Yamaha team came on, and how they have progressed this year. We discuss Leon Camier's brave efforts on the MV Agusta, and what that means for next year. And we have a quick chat about Aprillia, and how Eugene Laverty fared.

This was a short show, recorded under time restrictions. More shows are coming, including a show discussing the 2018 WorldSBK regulations, and asking whether it will make any difference to the results. A MotoGP testing round up show is to be recorded this week, as will a season review show. Stay tuned...
