The Paddock Pass Podcast is back! After a hiatus over the winter break, Steve English and David Emmett get together to go over the latest news from testing, now that bikes are back on track.

The first subject is Sepang, where the MotoGP grid had reassembled for the first test of 2017. We go over the results, debate how strong Marc Marquez is, whether Maverick ViƱales can pose a real threat for the title, ponder the strength of Valentino Rossi on the Yamaha, discuss how strong Jorge Lorenzo will be on the Ducati, and spend a few words on the exceptionally strong field of rookies who join MotoGP this season.

After debating MotoGP, we turn our attention to WorldSBK, and the results of the test at Jerez and Portimao. We discuss whether anyone will be able to challenge Jonathan Rea on the Kawasaki, wonder whether Chaz Davies can carry his form from late last year into 2017, and debate the merits of the Pata Yamaha squad this season. We also talk about the remarkable turnaround for Eugene Laverty over the two tests, and how well the Aprilia can be expected to do. We also have a quick chat about the plight of Ten Kate Honda, and whether Nicky Hayden is willing to sacrifice another season to developing a new bike, then round it off with a discussion of Marco Melandri's return to WorldSBK, and what that means for the series.
