There were plenty of open questions going into the Portimao round of MotoGP, and the race on the Algarve answered a few, and raised a few more. So Steve English, Adam Wheeler and Neil Morrison gathered afterward to discuss what happened in Portugal on the latest episode of the Paddock Pass Podcast.

They kick off with arguably the biggest story of the weekend, the return of Marc Marquez. Was it the old Marc who was back, or was he below par? Then they talk about Fabio Quartararo's superb win at the Portimao circuit, the Frenchman taking back to back wins for the first time since Jerez last year. Then they talk about the penalties, including Pecco Bagnaia and Maverick Viñales having their fast laps in qualifying taken away from them. They also discuss the relative merits of qualifying, and solving the problems it poses, with Steve and Ad bringing their experience in WorldSBK and MXGP respectively.

They go through the other points from the weekend, including Alex Rins strong race before crashing out, Jack Miller's crash, and what they expect of how the championship will play out with Marc Marquez back on the grid. And they finish up as ever with their winners and losers.
